TL;DR Guide for Ningguang

A guide by 2Board_on reddit who has given permission for us to post this - you can find the original guide on reddit here.

It is intended to be a brief overview of the strengths/weaknesses of the character, with the authors own opinions on the best currently available gear to pair with the character.

Overview & Passive

PSA #1:

A DPS is yo mama. They run the house, and as long as your supports do their job, the DPS won't get angry. Don't forget to eat the dishes, clean your homework, and do your vegetables guys.

PSA #2:

Both Ningguang's abilities scale off ATK. Meme her all you want, but she's a goddamn rocket launcher. Remember that scene in Iron Man when Tony releases those mini homing rockets at those terrorists? That's basically Ningguang in a nutshell.

Normal attacking poops out a gem. You can have 3 gems total. More gems = more charged attack damage.

Back-Up Plan

When Ningguang is in posession of Star Jades, her Charged Attack does not consume Stamina.

Basically having a single gem = charged attack costs no stamina (SAVE YOURSELF THE 50 STAMINA PLEASE).

PSA #3:

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, make sure to normal attack 3 times before you charged attack. IT'S LITERALLY FREE REAL ESTATE (damage). The 3 gems you have will fly out and nuke enemies you hit with a charged attack.

IMPORTANT TIP: Hold W (or any direction) while normal attacking, as it will reset the animation half way. This will allow you to get normal attacks faster = stack gems faster.

E - Jade Screen

Drop a literal, whole wall on your enemies. Does AoE geo damage and blocks any projectiles. Wall HP scales off Ning's HP (but you don't need to run HP).

Strategic Reserve

A character that passes through the Jade Screen will gain 12% Geo DMG Bonus for 10s.

PSA #4:

BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING, PUT DOWN THAT WALL AND WALK THROUGH IT FOR A FREE 12% GEO DMG BUFF (No need to if you're not phase 4 Ning yet). Just make sure to hit an enemy with it, and not cast it in the middle of nowhere.

Jade Screen - Lvl. 1 Example Stats

Inherited HP 50.1%
Skill DMG 230%
CD 12.0s

Q - Starshatter

This is what makes Ning so strong. She basically summons homing rock missiles to slap enemies. Her E will summon additional rock missiles if you Q while it's up.

PSA #5:

Wow 2Board, that's a lot of PSA's already. It's because they're IMPORTANT for maximizing Ning's damage. Please make sure to put E down, walk through it, and THEN Q.

Starshatter - Lvl. 1 Example Stats

DMG per Gem 87.0%
CD 12.0s
Energy Cost 40

WEAPON #1 (Recommended for TACTICAL NUKE INCOMING): Lost Prayer to the Sacred Winds

How do I get it D: ? - It's time to roll boys (gacha)

Has base CRIT% scaling and just provides a super consistent damage buff.

WEAPON #2 (Recommended for early pebble power): Prototype Malice

How do I get it D: ? - Forge (Prototype x1, Crystal Chunk x50, White Iron Chunk x50)

Has base HP% scaling and overall provides good utility for the team.

Yes, you can run Eye of Perception, Skyward Atlas, The Widsith, Favonius Codex, Mappa Mare and BP Catalyst on her. They're all extremely good, and flow well with her playstyle. The only weapon I don't suggest is Royal Grimoire, as it seemed to have inconsistent damage output.

ARTIFACT #1 (Recommended for earthbending destruction): Berserker + Archaic Petra

How do I get it D: ? - Berserker at any Boss (40 Resin per run). Archaic Petra at Domain of Guyun Domain (AR 30 locked, 20 Resin per run).

Berserker - Haha pebble go CRIT.

Archaic Petra - Ever heard what a rock hitting a human skull sounds like?

You can honestly replace Berserker with an ATK 18%+ 2-set or even Martial Artist 2-set bonus. They both performed extremely well and damage output was fairly neck and neck (Martial Artist was a bit more consistent since Ning normal/charged attacks a lot).

ARTIFACT #2 (Recommended for early rock action): Resolution of Sojourner

How do I get it D: ? - Midsummer Courtyard Domain (AR 22 locked, 20 Resin per run)

If you are honestly struggling to having near 100% uptime with Ning's Q, then you can run The Exile for some quick compensation.

PSA #6:

I know there is currently a bug with Ning where ATK% isn't providing the appropriate scaling for skills, but this build will still be MORE than enough. Once that gets patched, it will only do more damage.

Main stat: ATK% on Sands, Geo DMG% on Goblet, and CRIT% or CRIT DMG on Circlet

Substats: CRIT% > CRIT DMG > ATK/HP > Elemental Recharge/Elemental Mastery (it really doesn't matter for substats... I didn't notice it, you won't either)

Remember to get ATK% instead of flat ATK if you don't have it as your main stat (referring to your Goblet and Circlet).
