As the wealthiest gentleman in Mondstadt, the ever-dapper Diluc always presents himself as the epitome of perfection. But behind the courteous visage burns a zealous soul that has sworn to protect Mondstadt at all costs, allowing him to mercilessly vanquish all who threaten his city.
As the city of ballads and wines, Mondstadt's alcohol industry is renowned all over Teyvat. As owner of the Dawn Winery, Diluc is essentially in charge of half the industry. This means he has a huge stream of revenue and an entire network of information in the form of the tavern patrons' gossip, right at his fingertips. In a way, he is the uncrowned king of Mondstadt.

Thoughts on Talents
While playing Diluc, using charged attacks isn't really recommended due to not having good scaling, plus you lose your Elemental Skill damage. Simply big lose of damage, so you just want to be using normal attacks.
Your active is a really good skill; Nice damage, 3 charges making it the best match for Crimson Witch artifact set, low cooldown for it to be spammable. You can weave these into your normal attacks, so something like: NA > E > NA > E > NA > E > NA
Your Ultimate is half of what makes Diluc scale best with Pyro DMG towards endgame. This skill converts all his attacks to Pyro. Towards endgame you want to aim to use this skill off cooldown (Though this doesn't mean you should build ER on Diluc. On most teams, you will find that this skill charges up pretty quickly anyway). It's also a big source of damage; You can hit some big numbers with the right team comp with this skill.
Constellation Lvl. 1
Diluc Deals 15% more DMG to enemies whose HP is abave 50%.
Constellation Lvl. 2
When Diluc takes DMG, his base ATK increases by 10% and his ATK SPD increases by 5%. Lasts for 10s.
This effect can stack up to 3 times and can only occur once every 1.5s
Fire and Steel
Constellation Lvl. 3
Increases the Level of Searing Onslaught by 3. Maximum upgrade level is 15.
Constellation Lvl. 4
Casting Searing Onslaught in rhythm greatly increases damage dealt.
2s after casting Searing Onslaught, casting the next Searing Onslaught in the combo deals 40% additional DMG. This effect lasts for 2s.
Phoenix, Harbinger of Dawn
Constellation Lvl. 5
Increases the Level of Dawn by 3. Maximum upgrade level is 15.
Flaming Sword, Nemesis of Dark
Constellation Lvl. 6
After casting Searing Onslaught, the next 2 normal atacks within the next 6s will have their DMG and ATK SPD increased by 30%. Additionally, Searing Onslaught will not interupt the normal attack combo.
Diluc can work with pretty much anything. You might want to have a second Pyro character with him for elemental resonance, giving a big ATK boost. Bennet is what we recommend due to being able to buff Diluc's damage through his burst, in addition to providing heals for your team. You could also choose to go for Xiangling if you want. You can pair Diluc with Xingqiu, which will make having EM on your timepiece viable due to constant vaporize procs. A Sucrose is nice on most teams if you have a Viridescent Venerer set on her to reduce Pyro RES of enemies in addition to providing EM for your team. Zhongli is an extremely nice option too especially with the upcoming buff, as having him will make using The Unforged viable on Diluc through Zhongli's elemental skill, which will also reduce all RES on enemies, in addition to providing large AoE damage + petrification. Fischl is also nice, though overload will knock your enemies away, forcing you to dash to get to them which will result in a damage decrease, but if you have Venti, she becomes insane with Diluc due to the Overload + Swirl comp, giving constant explosions and damage in Venti's elemental burst. You can also try a Melt comp if you'd like with a character like Kaeya or the new Ganyu, since on Melt, Pyro gets the 2x damage multiplier unlike in Vaporize. Mona is also OP with Diluc, as Diluc is able to apply Pyro on all enemies through his burst, enabling for Mona's Stellaris Phantasm combo.
Choice Number #2 - The Unforged
Increases Shield Strength by 20/25/30/35/40%. Scoring hits on opponents increases ATK by 4/5/6/7/8% for 8s. Max 5 stacks. Can only occur once every 0.3s. While protected by a shield, this ATK increase effect is increased by 100%.
This one, like Wolf's Gravestone, gives very high ATK bonuses, and could probably win against it if you're running a shield comp.
Choice Number #3 - Skyward Pride
Increases all DMG by 8/10/12/14/16%. After using an Elemental Burst, Normal or Charged Attack, on hit, creates a vacuum blade that does 80/100/120/140/160% of ATK as DMG to opponents along its path. Lasts for 20s or 8 vacuum blades.
ER is not the best stat to have on Diluc, but we're looking at this mainly for being a 5-star weapon and therefore giving high base ATK, in addition to the DMG increase from its passive. The vaccum blades are very nice too, as you should be able to get your burst very often with Diluc so this becomes spammable, making the overall damage comparable to that of Wolf's Gravestone.
Choice Number #4 - Serpent Spine
Every 4s a character is on the field, they will deal 6/7/8/9/10% more DMG and take 3/2.7/2.4/2.2/2% more DMG. This effect has a maximum of 5 stacks and will not be reset if the character leaves the field, but will be reduced by 1 stack when the character takes DMG.
Very nice sword. Only reason it's down here is because it is a 4-star weapon and therefore gives lower base ATK, though the damage is still comparable to that of 5-star weapons. The CRIT Rate substat is very nice for Diluc, and the passive will give a big damage increase too. It's also a battle pass weapon, making it easier to obtain and refine than 5-star weapons.
Choice Number #5 - Prototype Archaic
On hit, Normal or Charged Attacks have a 50% chance to deal an additional 240/300/360/420/480% ATK DMG to opponents within a small AoE. Can only occur once every 15s.
Still 4-star so will give lower ATK values, and the passive is nice but takes quite long to trigger to be considered a significant damage increase. We're looking at this for being a craftable weapon with ATK sub-stat.
Artifact Setup #1 - Pure Pyro Damage
Hands down the best set for Diluc as he's the only character able to fully exploit the 4-piece set bonus due to having 3 charges of his elemental skill with low cooldown. In addition, towards endgame Diluc should be built for Pyro DMG because all of his damage will be Pyro from his elemental burst enchantment.
CRIT RATE > CRIT DMG > Pyro DMG
Artifact Setup #2 - Physical Max
Viable as even with the Pyro enchantment the Gladiator's bonuses still apply on his normal attacks.
CRIT RATE > CRIT DMG > Pyro DMG
Artifact Setup #3 - Mixed
Next obvious option is to mix sets. 2-piece Gladiator's + 2-piece Crimson Witch is the better option to go with here due to having 5-star variants in addition to the direct Pyro DMG boost from the Crimson Witch. Throw in a 4-star 18% ATK set if you don't have one of these sets.
Artifact Setup #4 - Alternative
If you don't have any of the 5-star sets then mix between 4-star ATK sets. You might also want to consider Berserker's if your artifacts don't have good CRIT Rate sub-stats.
